Elastomer components are manifold used in industrial applications partially under extreme conditions. Based on the complex chemical formulation of elastomers only a complete view of the whole process chain (starting at the processing of the components up to the specific characterization of different material properties) leads to reliability of different applications.

Therefore, different expertise along the process chain of elastomer materials and components were established:

  • Implementation of robust manufacturing processes (e.g. injection moulding of elastomers), to guarantee consistent material quality for ambitious applications.
  • Thermo-mechanical and chemical material characterization to describe bulk properties.
  • Description of the surface properties (mechanical/physical/chemical) with the main focus on tribology.
  • Deduction of structure – properties relationships.

Based on this broad appreciation on process- and material parameters the main expertise are located at material selection, damage analysis, component calculation, life time prediction and fracture mechanical characterization of elastomeric materials and components. Moreover, assistance at implementation of new concepts, design adaptions and support realization of innovative products and exploitation of new markets is offered.
