The managing directors of Polymer Competence Center Leoben GmbH  Martin Payer and Wolfgang Kern were delighted to bring home the "Fast Forward Award". This innovative Award is granted by SFG, the Styrian Business Promotion Agency. Polymer Competence Center Leoben GmbH has received the this year´s introduced special award for "Smart Production & Services".

 „Smart Production & Services" - also known as Industry 4.0 - is the essential trend of the future of the global economical development. This is the reason why SFG has initiated this type of award for the first time. A top-class jury has selected the innovative winner of this category out of more than 120 submissions. The researchers of PCCL were able to convince the jury with their project "Advanced Polymer Composites – PolyComp“. Core of this project is the development of new materials for Electrical Engineering and Electronics with focus on resource protection, efficiency and environmental compatibility. Besides the development of a new generation of generators, transformators and printed circuit boards is emphazised.

"Smart" means the ideal combination of industrial competences in Electrical Engineering and Electronics combined with the know-how for materials of researchers. Nine companies under the leadership of Polymer Competence Center Leoben GmbH and researchers of four universities (MU Leoben, TU Graz, TU Vienna dn TU Delft) have joined together to create a consortium which complements each other perfectly.

Dr. Christian Buchmann, the Regional Minister for Economy, Tourism, Europe and Culture in Styria, congratulates PCCL to this special award "Smart Production & Services" of "Fast Forward Award 2015".
