Since its foundation, Polymer Competence Center Leoben GmbH (PCCL) has steadily developed its expertise for innovative solutions with plastics and increased its headcount to more than 100. Upon having been awarded the status of a K1 centre of excellence, PCCL has now arrived in the Champions League.

Symposium at the ACS Spring Meeting 2016 jointly organized by the University of Massachusetts Amherst, the University of Leoben and the Polymer Competence Center Leoben

Since its inception in 2002, the PCCL enables women equal opportunities in research and technology. That the strategic measures taken are bearing fruit can be shown not only by a women's quota of 44% but in particular by the successful female researchers at the PCCL. Hence Ms. Simone Radl was awarded the Josef Krainer Promotion Award 2016 for her work on "Smart Polymers".

The AUSTRIAN STANDARDS - the platform for the creation of standards in Austria - awards the LIVING STANDARDS AWARD to companies for exemplary services around standards. The PCCL - in close cooperation with the Department Polymer Engineering and Science of the Montanuniversität Leoben - received the LIVING STANDARDS AWARD 2016 for the development of a testing method for durability of gas- and waterpipes.

An artificial human skull for surgical implants that comes directly from a 3-D-printer? This doesn´t exist? It does, because with plastic materials almost everthing is possible! Students of HTL Kapfenberg could get in touch with these kind of topics during "Take Tech 2015" at Montanuniversitaet Leoben, Department of Polymer Engineering and Science.
